2.5stars? Didn't seem like a case Holmes would take on, being as the solution was so dull and anticlimactic. Guess that's why it was so short...or perhaps it was so boring because it was so short. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. I thought van Wulven caught Doyle's style for Holmes, though, with the exception of some of his aloofness.

Sherlock Holmes Investigates The Pink Jewel Conundrum edition by Philip van Wulven Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

The author is Philip van Wulven, not Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, although he uses the same style as Doyle. Dr. Watson is again the story teller and recalls the events of the mystery just as in the original works. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are invited by the mayor of the city, Mayor Pink (hense the name in the title), to stay after a formal royal event to help him in a personal matter. It turns out that the Mayor has had a very valuable jem stolen and needs Holmes to find it before an upcoming event the next week. Holmes sifts through the facts and discovers things are not what they seem to be when first presented. If you are interested in a short mystery story, this is entertaining but not particularly complex. If however, you are expecting something of the magnitude of quality of the original doyle mystery classics, you will be somewhat disappointed. It is a good mystery, not a GREAT one.
This reads very much as an original Sherlock tale. The dialogue is accurate and authentic to the style of Doyle. The author has come up with an interesting twist in this short story, which is precisely the right length. I enjoyed it and I think most Holmes fans will too.
I am left incapable of verbal expression after experiencing the verbose pomposity of this purported Sherlock Holmes adventure.
This story is so silly I am forced to assume that it is an April Fool's joke that got out of hand and that all the positive reviews are by friends of the author.
Don't waste your time.
A solid short story which I think captures pretty well the spirit of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's rendition of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Fans of Sherlock Holmes shouldn't be disappointed with this very short tale.
I read the story to the end mostly because it was fun to pick out ways in which this story seemed to be about characters that were so definitely NOT Holmes or Watson. Not a terrible conundrum but not Sherlock Holmes, either
I read this free offering and was pleased to see that it is not one of those "new" Holmes stories that attempts to reinvent Holmes. For fans of the traditional canon this is right up your alley. On the downside the story is a bit fantastic, but for my money three stars means I liked it and I did like it. Anything above means I really liked it or loved it. Nice change of pace for Holmes fans. I will try some of this authors other Holmes offerings.
Well written as a Sherlock Holmes Mystery. You could believe this was written by Watson (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle). The mystery is very short with only the background necessary to deduce the solution to the mystery. An enjoyable 2? hours of reading. I loved the original Sherlock stories. This one could very well have been included in the Complete Works, without me detecting the difference. Maybe I am just too superficial on style, but it would fool me.

Maybe I should bone up on my deductive reasoning skills.
